"... We sat in our chairs, earphones, Keeping our separate movies To ourselves. We barely noticed..." And there you have how we live today, Sue. Media plugged into our heads, fast asleep. And the worst thing? We are choosing it, doing it to ourselves. Yikes. Thank you.

Today at knitting group, a couple of women were comparing how much time they spend playing games like Spider Solitaire and Candy Crush, etc. They actually PAY for these games. Holy merde! And when the credit card bill comes, there goes their Social Security. At least they get out once a week to knot. Frankly, I think they exaggerate, but when you're retired and suddenly find yourself comfortable in that chair, time goes by. I shouldn't criticize. I NEED to play Wordle every day or I lose my streak. Who need heroin, right? Hmmmm, an idea for a story there.

Thank you for reading it. Apparently, there's a firebug in the neighborhood. In the past nine days, three garages have burned. Now it's getting scary.

Oh no, that's terrifying, Sue. Sending love and strength.

Oh gosh, I'm shuddering, Sue. I love how you've knitted the fire with the '...we barely noticed......' Wow.

That's life these days, especially in the evenings when we're tired. But gees, there have now been three outbuilding fires in our neigborhood in one week and another one at the other end of the valley. That last one was deemed an electrical fire. Nothing has come out about the other three, so we're thinking it's arson and the police are keeping the details hush-hugh.

That's really scary, Sue. Keep safe. xxx

What a great commentary on our world. For some reason this brings to mind a college class when a professor told us about an ancient Roman writer who mentioned, in passing, that a Barbarian family was camping on his estate — not realizing that it was part of an enormous slow migration that would eventually bring down the empire.

Were these barbarians from the north lands per chance? Franks and Teutons, etc? We've seen this with Utah and Nevada in past years (decades) with California refugees bailing from a crowded state with social changes that a lot of people don't like. Or they don't like the taxes, real estate prices, ...... the list goes on.
