1979! What a great time to be alive in Santa Cruz! I loved reading this account, Sue. You beautifully captured the era, taking me back to being young and nuts. I didn't know the sweater lady, but I am pretty sure I knew the shoemaker - Bill the Cobbler, if I am not mistaken. I made him a shirt, he made me some beaded moccasins. Sigh... How I'd love to go back for a day or two..

Is it because we were in our youthful prime with some really great people in our lives, or were those really, actually, for certain, good times. Vietnam was over. Nixon was gone. But Inflation was ramping up at a rate that would make today's complainers hide their faces for being such snowflakes. As I recall, the 80s were when I checked out from popular culture and its music and concentrated on marriage, family, and Faith. How about you?

Yes. Checked out of popular culture in the early 80s. Switched to classical music. Focused on my professional career and travel. "A time to embrace, a time to refrain from embracing. A time to be born a time to die." Everything goes in a circle.
