Congratulations, Sue. Happiest of birthdays to you. A lovely little outline of your life here. That is a lot of accomplishment. Someday show us two small photos, please - you at 25 and you at 75. Write something about that.

Sounds like a plan for this Thursday. Thank you for the best wishes. When's your "new year?"

July 14. However, I have never placed much value on birthdays. Not sure why? I have a friend who hosts a HUGE bash for herself every year. She LOVES birthdays.

Last year at this time, I posted a story about how awkward my birthday feels to me. It goes way back to childhood. The old "you be good and you'll get presents for your birthday" thing. It didn't get any better with age. Somehow, this year has been different with building relationships with family. They finally got it in their heads I don't like presents. Just take me out to dinner so we can have a nice visit. Then everybody enjoys themselves. The "all about me" day is just simply a drag.

Yes. That is it exactly. I was in the spotlight my entire working career, but I don't like being the center of attention socially or with family.

Happy Birthday, Sue!! Here's to another trip around the sun, with all of the blessings to be multiplied in your life. Celebrate! I notice something about aging in myself. I just turned 73 years old, and I notice that with each year that passes, with its challenges and joys, I am smiling more. I am content. I have enough, and I love to share.

Isn't it great? Pains aside, I am living in paradise right now too. Loving family, no Big C, a private and comfortable house and garden that inspires me with its rich wildlife neighbors every day. There is nothing else I need or want. Even my "itchy feet" have calmed. This old world has given me more than I can possibly use. And then there's the freedom of knowing I don't have to impress a soul! Woohoo!

Wise words! And Sue, shout this from the rooftops, there's nothing braggadocious in doing so.

Happy birthday!

Personally for me 75 has sucked with so many health problems I'm wondering if more time is worth it.

I feel your pain, Bob. I really do. Every now and then, though, a good day shines through. I hope you'll find a way to relieve your misery so you can enjoy a bit of the time you have left. Every day's a gift at this point.
