This is the first guest column shared on Ring Around the Basin. It concerns an issue that I hold very close to my heart. To me, wild horses are a natural part of the western American landscape. They are the descendants of ancient fauna as well as the spiritual embodiment of the American Spirit of Freedom. To many, they are as sacred as the Bald Eagle.
I'll bet wildlife, especially horses, were definitely a part of her world. I'll have to look through your archive to read about her. Sounds amazing. And it couldn't have been that long ago ... early half of the 20th century. That 100 years really zoomed through the technology of living, from horse and buggy to rocket ships. My husband's grandmother spanned those years. Wish she could've talked about them more.
