Thank you, Jason. While I was unable to share photos I took myself, I hope the ones supplies as well as the antics displayed in the poems will inspire your haikus. And I hope 2024 is treating you well so far.
More than anything i realized birds and squirrels don't want to share anymore than most humans. I would watch them fight over the bird seed put in the feeder, knocking most of it to the ground. Then the grouse would come in to claim their share. Finally the deer would come and lick it up. Then a Black bear discovered it and ate everything. So I put it on a 10 pole of 2" water pipe. The bear came back and simply bent it over to the ground! So i gave up.
You may as well sit back and enjoy the show. Our suet cakes are much more convenient than the pans I used to set out, especially when it snows on them. They're high enough for me to refill and a piece of metal bent at a right angle dealt with the squirrel. the hawks and owls lent a hand on that score. Haven't seen a squirrel in a long time.
