I am not a fan of spiders, but I absolutely love your detailed descriptions of them. What an eye you have.

"Tomorrow I will watch This drama replay while I loop my yarn over and through And knit another row." Beautiful!

"I lay the nurseries behind the shed hoping spiderlings survive winter rains." Yes.

"the broom explores linoleum cracks." I know this broom and this floor.

I would like to see these observations arranged as prose, as well. Thanks for a fine mornings' read.

Thank you for your comments and for reading past poems in my archives. I've often wondered if anyone does that. There's so much to read from Substack. I love your short-shorts. It's a very fine skill to master in writing, sending the readers' imaginations to weave beyond the beginnings and ends of your words. Lovely!

Yes! So much to read. I was overwhelmed and could not keep up. I cancelled all my subscriptions except 14 ... a little more manageable! I plan to come back to see more of your previous things. Your writing has piqued my interest.

Thank you, Sharron. I hope you remain "piqued." I've had to cancel a few of my subscriptions too. So many good writers, but the really long pieces are also packed with so much information, I'm soon burned out. I set aside some time in the afternoons to read substackers, though, and manage to enjoy and learn SO VERY MUCH from everyone. Your stories are so much fun to read, not just because they're short, but because they stir the imagination. Thank you.

I love your spider poems! think spiders are incredibly poetic creatures. Have you ever read "Children of Time" by Adrian Tchaikovsky? That book has some incredible spider characters.

Thank you, Jason. I'll give that book a peek.

What lovely poems! It’s all about noticing, isn’t it? The images, then the words—they cascade into a whole that’s more than its parts. Images I can carry away, wrapped in my own web of understanding.

Thank you, Fran. It doesn't surprise me that you liked these poems. You are one of those people who know how to notice the tiniest things around you. I've always loved your writings because of that.
