Aren't we all. While replying to your other comment, I was distracted by a little "news alert" in the corner of the screen. Against my better judgement, I clicked and read that Trump is going to use executive order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. 🙄 This is the way this bonehead rules the world. While such orders require a 30-day period for Congress to yea or nay on these things, I have almost lost faith that those boneheads will circumvent this nonsense. 🤪😩🥺
"seared in the flames of withering injustice" "the bank of justice is bankrupt". "Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred." "Let us not wallow in the valley of despair"
I heard this unforgettable speech live and saw the masses of humanity thirsty for it. It will stay in my memory forever, Sue. And now, on this very January day, 62 year later, it is as urgent and timely as it was then. The speech we hear today will be the absolute antithesis of Dr. King's message. Breathe deep, friends, stay calm, do not despair, keep pushing forward. Thanks for bringing this back to us, Sue
I struggled with what to post on my usual Monday post and finally decided on MLK as well as the half-mast flag issue. These are my personal protest of today's events. Trying to stay far away from the news to keep my sanity.
Not only did Das Fuhrer want to have flags at full mast on his special day, many of his followers are doing the same. Just a couple in my neighborhood, but over the hill in the next valley, every single flag is at full mast all month long.
I've got to remember that while many people here are conservative, the fever pitch anger from the last term has dissipated considerably. After being shut in during COVID, I think we've all learned to appreciate each other and tread a bit more carefully around politics.
Thanks, Sue. I'm looking towards our better angels these days.

That the inaugural address of a flaming racist should fall on Martin Luther King Jr’s day is ironic to say the least. Thanks for adding the flags.

Keep the faith, Sue!
