Dirty hands usually clean up pretty well. Dirty souls, not so much. Dirty hands protect against dirty souls!

Wow! Martin had the last word, the old goat! I wonder if his daughter-in-law was going to join him in his eternal flowerbed? Poor Larry. Great story, Sue!! Definitely one for for the season!!

A strong, well-woven story of both family strain and gardening. Martin was truly a bastard, an old weed that needed yanking. The ending here was surprising to me and seemed more like the opening paragraph to the next chapter rather than a finish to this one? Seems to call out for continuation. I used to like gardening. I don't anymore. I am too old for bending down or crawling on my knees! Now it is only a painful means to beautiful results. Thanks for this engrossing 10 minutes, Sue.
