Saturday Special: Western Heritage Days Repost: Telling Time with Roy and Dale
The annual Western Heritage Days is this weekend in Genoa, NV.
For the past fifteen years, Genoa, NV has held a festival in May celebrating America’s western lifestyles with cowboy poetry, ranching skills demonstrations, art vendors and food, and a pavillion devoted to the three main tribes in Nevada: Paiute, Shoshone, and Wa-she-siu. It’s evolved over the years to include the best and most popular features. Last year, a horse parade entered the docket of fun offerings. I’m reposting my report from last year and a special conversation I had with the granddaughter of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
Here’s the Western Heritage Facebook page showing the festival in past years HERE.

Sadly I have discovered that the battery quality of Kindles has deteriorated to such a ridiculous level, I don't want to recommend you purchase my books, Paradise Ridge, When the Horses Come and Go, and Ghost in the Forest that are currently available on Kindle. If you have an old Kindle and you like to live dangerously, you will be able to enjoy all three books from under $10. Ghost in the Forest, however, is available in paperback.
Ahhh, Saturday morning shows including Roy Rogers and Trigger, such fond memories of growing up in the 60s. I thought Roy was so dreamy, and Trigger was my first TV equine love, Fury my second. Sounds like a great festival!
I loved the nostalgia here, Sue. I am very familiar with Roy and Dale -- icons of the era. So many of us kids tuned into that series and learned about morality. I had the little red and white suit, myself, but only my brother got the cap guns Hey! What's with that??
