"Melodies waver with the atmospheric shift like an old radio wave whose reception drifts."

Lines like this are why everyone should read Sue Cauhape.

Such a fine scene you have set your readers down into. I felt I was there sitting out on the porch with you. I would have liked the distant band in the night, and the airplanes passing overhead. A combo of man and nature. Lovely, Sue. A perfect example of how there is a story everywhere!

I was right there with you, Sue! Just mellowing out. The garage band sound takes me back, to the days my husband rocked the garage with various bands, a couple in which I participated. My newborn daughter's rockin' lullabies, friends and wine coolers. And then the quiet of the summer nights, eardrums still pulsing from the amplified music.

What a great memory. It seemed like just about any kid had a guitar or other instrument and played in these bands.
