A Flash of Cobalt
Have you ever daydreamed about a romantic movie only to have it interrupted by a flicker of reality in its most beautiful form?

The movie was a love story
One that in my youth
Would paralyze me for days
With agony and lost hope.
…
As the Coda brought a sweet
Melancholy
That softly confirmed
The stillness of my cronehood
…
A flash of a cobalt vision
Intruded upon my thoughts
Darting across the scenes
Muffling the film's dialogue
And soliloquy.
…
Earlier that day
On a downtown street
Trash cans askew
Against dour ancient brick
And icicled café tables
…
It fluttered from cement wall
To rusting metal rail
To the edge of a truck window
Before it found its course
Toward a clear Nevada sky
…
And escaped on wings
Of purest, unsullied blue.
One tiny blink of brilliance
Reminded my winter-numbed heart
Of the ache and splendor of joy.
"The mountain bluebird is the state bird of Idaho and Nevada. This bird is an omnivore and it can live 6 to 10 years in the wild. It eats spiders, grasshoppers, flies and other insects, and small fruits. The mountain bluebird is a relative of the eastern and western bluebirds." (Wikipedia)
Beautiful words, Sue - and the bluebird is incredible! 💙
What a beauty. Quite different than our Eastern Bluebird. The variety of our Creator is amazing ...
